Mentoring young activists-to-be: MYCELIA mentors are there for you

The MYCELIA mentorship programme (Mentoring Youth for Collective Engagement in Learning, Interaction, and Activism) of the Critical ChangeLab project is launched – find out more here and apply before 25th April.

Does the world around you not make any sense? Are you looking to do something about it, but don’t know where to start?

You are not alone. And experienced activists, who have gone through the same doubts and hesitations, would like nothing more than to offer their guidance and tell you what pitfalls to avoid in your attempts at making a change in the community around you.

The MYCELIA mentorship program, part of the Critical ChangeLab project, seeks to unite young people across Europe to collaborate and construct a youth-activist network for peer-learning, resource exchange and action-oriented civic engagement, seeking to develop sustainable futures leadership. It will run between May and July 2025.

The program is run by European Alternatives, a civil society organization promoting democracy, equality and culture beyond the nation-state. It has been working with people from throughout Europe over the past 16 years to increase their skills, capacities and networks to promote change.

The purpose of the mentorship is to bring you someone to listen to your questions and experiences and to guide and direct you in your future activism. Mentorship sessions will take place online over three 60 to 90-minute sessions; mentees will establish contact with their appointed mentor and schedule a number of appointments. Sessions will take place in groups of two mentees from the same country, or interested in the same topic, and in any case all speaking the same language.

A final collective feedback session will take place at the end of the program for you to share your experiences, results, and create contacts with other mentees.

We are looking for young people to join the mentorship program.

To join the program, you must:

  • Be between 15 and 18 (exceptions can be made on a case by case basis)
  • Be interested in democratic participation, and especially that of underrepresented communities (including but not limited to women, LGBTQI+ people, people with a migration background…), and have started to become engaged in activism or mobilising (at school, in your area)
  • Speak one of the following languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovakian, Spanish
  • Commit to attending an introduction session, 3 online mentoring sessions and a final evaluation session.

Interested? Fill in this form before 25th april 2025
