Democracy is a collective act. A journey of care, trust and participation.

From March to June 2025, Democratic Odyssey travels across Europe to strengthen a call:

👉 We need a Permanent Citizens’ Assembly at the European level.

The final stop of this journey is Vienna, where citizens, activists, artists and institutions will come together for three days of deliberation, imagination and action.

At a time when democracy is threatened by fragmentation, apathy, and technocracy, this campaign insists on a simple truth:

Democracy is an act of care.
Democracy is an act of empathy.
Democracy is a collective action.

Through assemblies, public actions, and media content, we tell the story of democratic transformation as a shared journey — where trust, solidarity and civic power shape the future of Europe.

Why this Assembly matters

In Athens and Florence, citizens tackled the major trade-offs of our time reflecting on how citizens’ should contribute in crisis management.

In Vienna, we bring these dilemmas to the public square, inviting everyone to reflect and act. Because:

👉 In times of crisis, collective participation is the only way forward.

👉 Popular initiatives must be supported by Citizens’ Assemblies to gain legitimacy and be adopted by EU institutions.

The Vienna Assembly is hosted within the Wiener Festwochen, under the 2025 theme: “Republic of Love.”
