New Challenges on the Urban Periphery (Nouveaux défis dans les périphéries urbaines) était un projet utilisant les concepts de co-création, une méthode de recherche utilisant la créativité pour coproduire des connaissances avec des universitaires, des communautés et des praticiens créatifs, dans le contexte de la marginalité urbaine et des banlieues parisiennes.
Le financement de ce projet a marqué le 10e anniversaire de la création du Banlieue Network par Christina Horvath et Juliet Carpenter en 2012, et fait suite à un projet de recherche international à travers l’UE et l’Amérique latine qui a développé cette méthode de co-création pour lutter contre la stigmatisation liée aux désavantages urbains. L’événement New Challenges on the Urban Periphery comprenait les événements suivants :
- Un séminaire d’une journée : “Les nouveaux défis de la périphérie urbaine”, Paris, lundi 27 mars 2023. Il constituait un séminaire hybride d’une journée (en personne à Paris, avec des options de participation en ligne via Zoom), pour rassembler les membres originaux du Banlieue Network (2012-2014), avec d’autres chercheurs ayant des intérêts connexes, pour échanger et discuter des recherches récentes dans le domaine des études sur les Banlieues.
- Un programme d’ateliers d’écriture créative gratuits organisés dans le Grand Paris, au cours du mois de juin, avec les écrivains Insa Sané et Mabrouk Rachedi. Ces ateliers gratuits étaient destinés aux jeunes qui souhaitent améliorer leurs compétences en matière d’écriture, avec un choix de cours d’écriture et de slam ou d’écriture en prose.
- Un “Festival de cocréation” organisé à Saint-Denis, dans le Grand Paris, du 29 juin au 2 juillet 2023 : “Littératures en marges”. Inspiré par le “Literary Festival of the Urban Peripheries” (FLUP) de Rio au Brésil, cet événement de co-création rassemble des chercheurs, des écrivains et des artistes, des praticiens et des publics plus larges pour explorer le concept de marginalité et de stigmatisation, dans le contexte de la pratique créative.
