đź“Ť Florence \ Le Murate, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Buontalenti
đź“… 21-23 February

The Democratic Odyssey continues its journey through Europe, stopping in Florence for a three-day event dedicated to citizen participation, democratic dialogue, and collective action. This gathering builds on the momentum of the Athens Assembly (September 2024) and sets the stage for the next phase in Vienna (May 2025), forming a dynamic process of civic engagement and political imagination.

In Florence, the focus will be on global crises: from climate change to economic inequality, from democratic backsliding to the challenges of migration, and how communities can organise, resist, and shape tangible solutions.
Citizens, selected by sortition, will engage in discussions and decision-making processes alongside experts, activists, and local change-makers to co-create strategies for a more participatory and resilient Europe.

February 21st | public event

The public event “The Village for Civic Action” at Le Murate will bring together activists, artists, policymakers, and engaged citizens for a day of debates, performances, free vegan food, film screenings, workshops and dj set. The programme will explore key themes such as climate struggles, feminist movements, and food justice, connecting local and global perspectives.

From February 22nd to 23rd

The Deliberative Assembly will take place at Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo Buontalenti, where randomly selected citizens will work together to develop proposals for a more democratic and participatory Europe. With the guidance of experts, facilitators, and local stakeholders, participants will draft concrete recommendations to be carried forward in the next steps of the Democratic Odyssey.

This is more than just a consultation: it is a growing movement for a Permanent Peoples’ Assembly for Europe.
Join us in Florence to be part of a process that redefines how democracy is practiced and imagined!
