Assemblies of Solidarity is a citizens-led engagement and communications project, aiming at connecting groups that are disproportionately affected by Covid-19. The project consists of a <\/span>series of assemblies made by and for citizens<\/b>, to raise awareness on key topics revolving around three main pillars:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Democracy and fundamental rights\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Social Europe and Health\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Environment and climate change\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Because the actions of the EP affect people throughout Europe in different ways in their everyday lives, the multi-generational citizens\u2019 assemblies will deliberate on key policy areas that are strategic for both citizens and the European Parliament. The project will result in the co-creation of a <\/span>feedback mechanism between EU citizens and the EP<\/b>, a package of petitions to promote the right to petition and other participatory democracy tools (ie. petitions, ECIs, freedom of information requests and other tools).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    We believe that European democracy must be based on <\/span>innovative engagement formats<\/b>, fostering the relationships and dialogue between citizens throughout Europe and their capacity to give useful inputs, reports and testimonies that can help European decision makers develop more informed policies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Assemblies of Solidarity will take place in <\/span>10 countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania)<\/b>, where participants will embark on a journey of deliberations and develop creative\u00a0 and innovative formats of engagement, culminating at the TRANSEUROPA Festival<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The project is coordinated by European Alternatives,<\/span>\u00a0the Citizens Take Over Europe<\/a> coalition,<\/span>\u00a0and their member\u2019s network which brings together <\/span>more than 50 civil society organisations from across Europe<\/b> to prepare for and engage with the Conference on the Future of Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
