{"id":30562,"date":"2026-03-30T16:35:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euroalter.com\/?post_type=event&#038;p=30562"},"modified":"2026-03-30T16:35:43","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:35:43","slug":"the-school-of-artivism","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/euroalter.com\/it\/events\/the-school-of-artivism\/","title":{"rendered":"The School of Artivism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Palermo, Sicily \u2014 April 17\u201323, 2025<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A European residency exploring art, activism, climate and social justice<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across Europe and beyond, a new generation of young artists and activists are searching for ways to face climate and social crises with imagination and collective power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For one week in Palermo, a group of young artivists from across Europe will gather to learn, reflect, train, and build the foundations of future creative actions to fight for climate and social justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome&nbsp;<strong>young people aged 20\u201325<\/strong>&nbsp;residing in the EU who are already active in artistic and\/or activist communities, who use (or wish to use) creativity as part of their political or ecological engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We aim for a&nbsp;<strong>balanced and diverse group<\/strong>, with a strong representation of participants living in Italy and Sicily \u2013 including some based in Palermo \u2013 while also welcoming a significant number of young people from across the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also welcome participation from\u00a0<strong>local groups<\/strong>, and we will create bridges between incoming participants and the workshops\/activities of the Palermo-based festival\u00a0<em>Earth Day Med<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>But what is&nbsp;<em>Artivism<\/em>?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Artivism is the intentional use of creative practices for political and social action.<br>It combines creativity, strategy, symbolism, and collective intelligence to influence culture, challenge power structures, and make democratic struggles visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the residency, participants will explore these principles through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A local case study linked to Palermo\u2019s ecological and cultural context,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workshops on the roots and methods of artivism,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collective learning inspired by the festival\u2019s program and roundtables,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deep reflection on climate and biodiversity issues through artistic and political lenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83e\udec2 During the Residency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Workshops, guided reflections, and situational exercises<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exploration of Palermo\u2019s local ecological and cultural context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participant exchanges &amp; building a transnational community of artivists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integration of festival content (e.g., watching a panel, then working with the ideas)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final day:\u00a0<strong>\u201cApply it to your local context\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 turning learning into a first project vision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udc9a Connection to the Palermo Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The residency will interact with the Earth Day Med Palermo festival produced and curated by Fondazione Studio Rizoma:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attending festival programmations (discussions, screenings, workshops, etc)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflecting collectively on themes such as climate, biodiversity, democracy, migration, or Mediterranean ecologies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrating festival insights into the training path<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a&nbsp;<strong>training-only program<\/strong>: Participants will&nbsp;<strong>not carry out a public action during the residency<\/strong>, but will prepare the ground to implement one once they return to their local context.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":30563,"parent":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-30562","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.6 -
