European Alternatives<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0working together to celebrate Europe Day in May 2014 at our “Transeuropa Village Weekend”<\/p>\n

We want to celebrate and connect initiatives that are\u00a0using creative methods to develop civic entrepreneurship in communities across Europe<\/strong>\u00a0andshowcase the issues in the\u00a0<\/strong>Citizens Pact<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in light of the European elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

People coming to the Transeuropa Village will see how getting involved in the community can be creative & entrepreneurial. They will see how people across Europe aredeveloping new forms of creative civic citizenship.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This event builds on our experience organizing\u00a0Transeuropa Festivals<\/a>\u00a0and working with partners to develop concepts that bring together civic initiatives, such as\u00a0Borders to Cross<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It will in particular put into the spotlight our\u00a0Transeuropa Caravans<\/a>\u00a0process, which aims to\u00a0understand how communities are using creative methods to cope with the crisis.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A group of 30 people will travel in caravans in six zones across the continent. Travelling through different environments \u2013 from the countryside to the city \u2013 our caravans want to discover how communities are imagining and enacting new ways of living.<\/p>\n

The weekend will reflect the principles guiding this project,\u00a0discovering the unseen and the unheard<\/strong>\u00a0as well as\u00a0connecting initiatives across borders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saturday & Sunday 17 & 18 May All day: Transeuropa Village<\/strong><\/p>\n

To enable participants to\u00a0feel like they\u2019re travelling through different environments<\/strong>, the space will be designed like a village (successfully developed at\u00a0Borders to Cross<\/a>.<\/p>\n

12.00-13.00: Curating recipes for community action\u00a0<\/strong>

\nWe will also invite people to\u00a0sample food from recipes we will collect on our caravan journey.<\/strong>\u00a0Each menu will be curated based on a different theme, not based on the type of food or even village it\u2019s from, but on the theme of the initiative who gifted the recipe.13.00-16:00: Discovering the unseen and unheard\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
