How To Tell A Story is one of the main stages of the project SHAREs \u2013 Informing Transnational Mobilization. SHAREs\u00a0 is\u00a0 an\u00a0 18\u00a0 months\u00a0 long\u00a0 project\u00a0 conceived\u00a0 as\u00a0 a\u00a0 platform\u00a0 to\u00a0 develop\u00a0 a transnational\u00a0 collaboration\u00a0 involving\u00a0 people\u00a0 from\u00a0 about\u00a0 10\u00a0 European\u00a0 countries\u00a0 from\u00a0 different sectors (cultural operators, artists, journalists, activists philosophers, students) and to establish a long term dialogue with non-EU yet countries (Turkey). SHARES intends to stress the relationship between the role of communication and information production, distribution and consumption, with the potential forms of mobilisation and collaboration as necessarily linked to each other.<\/p>\n

How To Tell A Story is an exhibition that investigates the relationship between artistic practices and the sphere of information production and dissemination.<\/p>\n

The title, taken from the series of drawings by John Menick, refers to storytelling as a form of art which respond to precise rules and that, already from the middle of 20th\u00a0 century, expanded from\u00a0 the\u00a0 creative\u00a0 field\u00a0 !\u00a0 where\u00a0 it\u00a0 referred\u00a0 mainly\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 practice\u00a0 of\u00a0 writing\u00a0 \u2018screenplays,\u00a0 romance novels, mystery novels, and science fiction novels\u2019 ! to enter and inform every sphere of life from marketing strategies to political discourses and the whole news\/media system.<\/p>\n

The exhibition starts from this subject to present artistic and cultural practices, which critically play\u00a0 with\u00a0 the\u00a0 mechanisms\u00a0 of\u00a0 storytelling\u00a0 as\u00a0 well\u00a0 as\u00a0 the\u00a0 hierarchies,\u00a0 and\u00a0 power\u00a0 relations\u00a0 that regulate\u00a0 the\u00a0 information\u00a0 distribution.\u00a0 The\u00a0 artists\u00a0 observe\u00a0 the\u00a0 history\u00a0 and\u00a0 the\u00a0 strategies\u00a0 of\u00a0 the official mass media \u2013 from TV to radio, from newspapers to different form of printed items \u2013 to tackle their role in the shaping of the collective imaginary. At the same time How To Tell A Story presents\u00a0 the\u00a0 work\u00a0 of\u00a0 artists\u00a0 who\u00a0 explore\u00a0 participative\u00a0 methodologies\u00a0 to\u00a0 make\u00a0 possible\u00a0 for collective\u00a0 narratives\u00a0 to\u00a0 emerge\u00a0 and\u00a0 therefore rethink the balance between producer and receiver, between author and audiences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
