“Europe’s Duty to the Refugees, Europe’s duty to itself”: under this motto, DiEM25 presents its second assembly after Democracy in Europe in Rome. Next 5 May at 7pm in Vienna, at the WERK X Theatre, European Alternatives will join a discussion about the most urgent crisis Europe is facing: the so-called Refugee Crisis. The event will be held in English and will be LIVE streamed online. This time, the price entrance is 10 euros, half of it will be donated to refugee initiatives. During the evening event, Talk Real will film a new episode also about flight, migration and the so-called refugee crisis. Yanis Varoufakis, Saskia Sassen, Srećko Horvat, Fanny Müller-Uri, Erich Fenninger, Teresa Forcades, Sandro Mezzadra, Walter Baier and Katja Kipping, among others, will join the discussion.
We share with DiEM25 the belief that the freedom of movement of European citizens and non-European citizens is under attack. We want to join this assembly to defend our position in favour of the thousand of people who risk their lifes to find an opportunity. Migration experts remember that whenever a route closes, another one opens. Blocking routes and stablishing policies like the one with Turkey won’t solve the “refugee crisis”.
From minute 00:35:00 you can watch our discussion about migration during last assembly with DiEM25 with the interventions of Lorenzo Marsili, European Alternatives director, Marisa Matias, Portuguese MP, and Igiaba Scego, Italian writer.
